(LAKESHORE, ON) - On October 20, 2025, at approximately 11:35 pm, an officer from the Lakeshore Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment was on patrol on County Road 2 in the Municipality of Lakeshore, when they observed a vehicle exceeding the posted speed limit

The officer conducted a traffic stop, and upon speaking to the driver, the officer believed the driver had previously consumed alcohol. The driver submitted a sample into Approved Screening Device (ASD) for alcohol.

As a result, a 35-year-old of female from Windsor was issued a 7-day drivers licence suspension and was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Speeding 1 - 49 Km/h over posted limit

Although a warning range reading on the ASD is not a criminal impaired driving charge, the warn-range infraction is still recorded on your driving record and results in immediate roadside licence suspensions:

  • 3 days for a first occurrence, - 7 days for a second, - 30 days for a third

Penalties also include administrative fines, and a possible licence reinstatement fee.
