TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO SEVERAL CHARGES

(LEAMINGTON, ON) - One person has been charged following a traffic stop in Leamington.
On March 22, 2026, at approximately 2:27 am, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a vehicle stop on Wellington Street in the Municipality of Leamington.
Mario PINA MENDOZA, 36-years-old of Wheatley was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act offences:
- Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code (four counts)
- Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
- Fail to have insurance card
A 45-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The accused was scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Windsor on June 18, 2026, to answer to the charges.
