Search Efforts Continue

(LAMBTON SHORES, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues coordinated search efforts for an individual reported outstanding following a water emergency at Pinery Provincial Park involving a raft carrying five individuals in Lake Huron.

On May 18, 2026, at approximately 3:00 pm, Lambton OPP, Lambton Shores Fire and Emergency Services, and Lambton County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the incident. Four individuals were able to get to safety and were not injured, while one individual remains outstanding.

Lambton OPP, OPP Aviation Services and the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU), and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) continue coordinated search efforts in the area.

At this time, there are limited updates available as the investigation and search efforts continue. Additional information will be released when appropriate.

The Lambton OPP recognizes the impact this incident has had on the individuals involved, their loved ones, first responders, and the broader community, and continues to thank the public for their patience and support as search efforts continue.
