COLLISION IN LAURENTIAN VALLEY TOWNSHIP RESULTS IN CHARGE

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY, ON) - Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recently investigated a single vehicle collision in Laurentian Valley Township.
The collision occurred on February 20, 2026, at approximately 6:40 pm at the intersection of Biggs Road and Forest Lea Road. Investigation found that a southbound vehicle on Biggs Road lost control and slid through the intersection, striking and severing a hydro pole. The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was not injured. Police found open alcohol in the vehicle.
The driver, a 24-year-old from Coburg, Ontario, was charged with driving a motor vehicle with an unsealed container of liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Control Act.
Ontario Hydro and the Laurentian Valley Fire Department also responded to ensure driver and public safety due to downed wires. The collision resulted in a localized power outage for several hours.
