(PETAWAWA, ON) - A Petawawa resident is facing multiple charges after a recent incident in Petawawa.
On Thursday March 12, 2026, at approximately 6:45 pm, members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call regarding a possible impaired driver brandishing a handgun at a parking lot in Petawawa. Police located the vehicle a short time later and initiated a high-risk traffic stop on Doran Road in Petawawa. One individual was taken into custody without incident and police recovered an imitation firearm.
As a result of this investigation 19-year-old Owen CLEMENT of Petawawa has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC), Liquor License and Control Act (LLCA), Cannabis Control Act (CCA) and Highway Traffic Act (HTA) offences:
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Driving motor vehicle with an open container of liquor
- Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
- Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
- Driving while under suspension
- Adult novice driver - BAC above zero
- Drive motor vehicle - no currently validated permit
- Fail to notify change of address
The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 21, 2026.
