TRAFFIC COMPLAINTS RESULT IN CHARGES

(PETAWAWA, ON) - A Town of Petawawa resident is facing Criminal Code (CC), Highway Traffic Act (HTA), Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA), and Liquor License and Control Act (LLCA) charges after the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received numerous driving complaints for a possible impaired driver.
On the afternoon of April 7, 2026, members of the UOV OPP responded to these reports. Police located the vehicle and the driver on Petawawa Boulevard. The driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for testing.
As a result of the incident 58-year-old Terrence CHARTRAND has been charged with the following CC, HTA, CAIA, and LLCA offences:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Drive motor vehicle - no licence
- Fail to surrender insurance card
- Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
- Driving motor vehicle while liquor readily available
The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on May 11, 2026.
