(PETAWAWA, ON) - Two snowmobilers from the Ottawa area have been charged after Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers conducted a speed enforcement exercise on a local Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) trail in Petawawa.

On the afternoon of January 29, 2026, UOV OPP officers caught the riders travelling 80 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone. The incident took place on OFSC A Trail adjacent to Petawawa Boulevard. Both individuals were charged with speeding under the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act.

Snowmobile patrols, which include radar speed enforcement, will continue throughout the winter months in an effort to make our trails as safe as possible. Snowmobilers are reminded to obey the posted speed limits on trails and to ride safe, ride sober.
