ONE ARRESTED AFTER FAMILY DISPUTE TURNS VIOLENT

(BONNECHERE VALLEY TWP, ON) - One person is facing Criminal Code (CC) charges after members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to family dispute at a residence in Bonnechere Valley Township (BVT).
On February 14, 2026, at approximately 11:00 pm police were called after a physical altercation took place between family members. Investigation found that an edged weapon was used. One individual was arrested at the scene and taken into police custody. The victim was not seriously injured.
As a result of this incident a 34-year-old from BVT was arrested and charged with the following CC offences:
- Assault with a weapon
- Breach of probation
The accused was released to appear at a later date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke. The name of the accused individual is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
