STUNT DRIVING CHARGE LAID ON HIGHWAY 17

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP, ON) - A 32-year-old Ottawa resident is facing a stunt driving charge after being caught travelling 117 km/h over the posted limit on Highway 17 in Laurentian Valley Township.
The incident occurred on April 21, 2026, at approximately 11:30 pm when an officer with the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) caught the driver travelling 207 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone. The incident took place on Highway 17 between Round Lake Road and Forest Lea Road.
The driver was charged with the following Highway Traffic Act (HTA) offences:
- Driving a motor vehicle while performing a stunt - excessive speed
- Speeding 50+ km/h over posted limit
- Fail to notify change of address
The driver was issued summonses to appear at the Ontario Provincial Offences Court in Pembroke. The accused had their licence suspended for 30 days, and their vehicle was towed and impounded for 14 days.
