(WHITEWATER REGION TWP, ON) - A 50-year-old Deep River resident is facing a stunt driving charge after being caught travelling 53 km/h over the posted limit on Highway 17 in Whitewater Region Township.

The incident occurred on January 6, 2026, at approximately 6:10 pm when an officer with the East Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) caught the driver travelling at 143 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone. The driver was charged with driving a motor vehicle while performing a stunt - excessive speed, under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The driver was issued a summons to appear at the Ontario Provincial Offences Court in Pembroke. The accused had their licence suspended for 30 days, and their vehicle was towed and impounded for 14 days.
