SEVERAL CHARGES LAID AFTER INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE INVESTIGATION

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP, ON) - Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid several Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) related Criminal Code (CC) charges against an area resident.

On April 12, 2026, UOV OPP officers responded to a domestic dispute involving an assault at a residence in the Township of Laurentian Valley (TLV). Detectives from the UOV OPP’s Detachment Abuse Issues Investigator (DAII) unit assisted with the investigation which led to multiple charges. The investigation included recent events and historical IPV events that took place over several years.

As a result of this investigation a 47-year-old from TLV is charged with the following CC offences:

  • Assault - spousal - five counts
  • Mischief - damages or destroys property - five counts
  • Forcible confinement - two counts

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on a future date.
