INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE INVESTIGATION LEADS TO SEVERAL CHARGES

(PETAWAWA, ON) - Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid several Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) related Criminal Code (CC) charges against an area resident.
On January 31, 2026, at approximately 9:00 pm, UOV OPP officers responded to domestic dispute in progress at a residence in Petawawa. In addition to an assault investigation, police found property at the home had been damaged. Police arrested one individual at the scene. The investigation included recent and historical IPV events that took place over several months at a residence in Petawawa.
As a result of this investigation a 43-year-old from Petawawa is charged with the following CC offences:
- Assault - spousal
- Assault cause bodily harm - choke, suffocate, or strangle
- Mischief - domestic - three counts
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm - spousal
The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on a future date.
