(PEMBROKE, ON) - A local resident is facing Criminal Code (CC) charges after an impaired driving investigation in the City of Pembroke.

On February 27, 2026, at approximately 7:45 am members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an individual passed out at the wheel of a vehicle near the intersection of Mary Street and Moffat Street in the City of Pembroke. Officers located the vehicle and after speaking with the driver, an impaired driving investigation was initiated. As part of the investigation a Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted, and further testing was conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer at the detachment. Additional investigation found that a breach of release conditions, in relation to a prior Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) incident, had taken place.

As a result of this investigation a 39-year-old from Pembroke has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

  • Operation while impaired - drugs
  • Failure to comply with undertaking

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was held for a bail hearing and subsequently released with a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.

The name of the accused is not being released due to the IPV component of the investigation.
