(LONDON, ON) - Driver charged with stunt driving on Highway 401.

On April 26, 2026, at 12:22 am, a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division (HSD), while performing a speed enforcement initiative in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 in the City of London near Highbury Avenue, observed a vehicle travelling in excess of 50km/h over the posted 80km/h speed limit in the construction zone.

A traffic stop was initiated.

As a result, a 21-year-old of Stoney Creek, has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt - Excessive Speed
  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit

The driver’s licence has been suspended for 30 days and the vehicle has been impounded for 14 days.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Provincial Traffic Court to speak to the charges at a later date.
