TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO IMPAIRED DRIVER

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) - Driver facing Impaired charge after traffic stop.
On March 8, 2026, at 1:32 am, a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while on general patrol in the Municipality of Thames Centre, observed a suspicious vehicle on Thorndale Road.
A traffic stop was initiated at which time the driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment.
As a result, Seth RITCHIE, a 29-year-old of Scotland, Ontario has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Control Act with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Dangerous Operation
- Speeding 1 - 49 Km/h over posted limit
- Drive motor vehicle - no licence
- Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on April 16, 2026.
