(THAMES CENTRE, ON) - Driver facing multiple charges after traffic stop on Highway 401.

On October 29, 2025, at 11:25 pm, a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while on general patrol in the westbound lanes of Highway 401, the in the Municipality of Thames Centre, observed a suspicious vehicle, at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Paul STEWART, a 43-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Operation while impaired - drugs
  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in London on November 27, 2025, to speak to the charges.
