DRIVER AND PASSENGER CHARGED DURING RIDE PROGRAM IN SIMCOE

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) - A driver and passenger were both charged following a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program in Simcoe.
On Monday, September 15, 2025, at approximately 12:22 am, Norfolk County OPP officers were conducting a RIDE program on Norfolk Street North in Simcoe when they stopped a vehicle and assessed the driver for sobriety.
During the stop, officers determined the driver was operating the vehicle without insurance, while a passenger attempted to flee on foot. Both individuals were taken into custody without incident.
As a result, the driver, a 35-year-old Norfolk County resident, was charged with the following alleged offences:
- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance, - Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Provincial Offences Court in Simcoe at a later date.
Also charged is 29-year-old Jacob HOAG of Norfolk County with the following alleged offence:
- Obstruct Peace Officer
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
