DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED OPERATION AT RIDE CHECKPOINT

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) - A young driver is facing charges following an impaired driving investigation in Simcoe.
On Saturday, October 25, 2025, at approximately 12:03 am, officers from the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Norfolk Street North in Simcoe when they stopped a vehicle to assess the driver’s sobriety.
Following a roadside sobriety test, the driver was taken into custody without incident.
As a result, 21-year-old Donavan OUWENDYK of Norfolk County was charged with the following alleged offences:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), - Young driver - B.A.C. above zero, - Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
