(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) - An individual has been charged following an investigation into a public intoxication incident in Simcoe.

On Sunday, September 21, 2025, at approximately 2:12 pm, members of the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspected intoxicated person on North Main Street in Simcoe.

Officers located the individual nearby and, following an interaction, took them into custody without incident. While in police custody, however, the individual physically assaulted an officer. No injuries were reported.

As a result, 45-year-old Brendan JONES of Haldimand County was charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Being intoxicated in public place, - Assault a Peace Officer

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
