TWO INDIVIDUALS FACING IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) - Two individuals have been charged following separate impaired driving investigations in Norfolk County.
On Sunday, May 31, 2026, at approximately 2:09 am, members of the Norfolk County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision involving a sedan on Windham Road 12 near Delhi.
The investigation determined that the vehicle was travelling along Windham Road 12 when it left the roadway and came to rest on a residential property. No injuries were reported.
Officers located the driver at the scene and subsequently took the individual into custody without incident.
As a result, 18-year-old Ziad ELEWA of Hamilton, Ontario, has been charged with the following alleged offences:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, - Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available, - Person under 19 years - possess cannabis
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
Later that same day, at approximately 5:00 pm, members of the Norfolk County OPP Marine Unit conducted a vessel stop on Lake Erie near Turkey Point and initiated an investigation.
The operator was required to undergo a sobriety test and was subsequently taken into custody without incident.
As a result, 56-year-old Thomas BOWEN of Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offence:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
