TWO YOUTHS CHARGED FOLLOWING ASSAULT INVESTIGATION
(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) - Two youths have been charged in connection with a recent assault investigation near the border of Norfolk County and Oxford County.
On Saturday, May 23, 2026, at approximately 8:32 pm, members of the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a reported assault at a business on Simcoe Street.
The investigation determined that an interaction occurred between a group of youths and a store employee on the property, during which one of the youths assaulted the employee. No injuries were reported. The suspects then fled the area in a pickup truck but were later located and taken into custody at another location in Norfolk County.
As a result, a 17-year-old Norfolk County resident has been charged with the following alleged offences:
- Mischief - obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property, - Dangerous operation
Also charged is another 17-year-old from Norfolk County with the following alleged offences:
- Mischief - obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property, - Assault
The accused individuals, whose identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe at a later date.
