Investigators Seeking Information from the Public
(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) - An individual has been charged in connection with an ongoing sexual assault investigation in Simcoe.
On Monday, May 4, 2026, at approximately 9:30 pm, members of the Norfolk County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a reported sexual assault at a long-term care facility in Simcoe. One individual was taken into custody without incident.
As a result of the investigation, Christopher COWAN, 43 years of age of Norfolk County, was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Sexual assault
- Sexual exploitation of person with a disability
- Forcible confinement
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
The accused has worked as a personal support worker in Norfolk County since 2023. Investigators are urging anyone who may have had contact with the accused or experienced similar circumstances to contact police.
