STOLEN PROPERTY VALUED AT OVER $230,000 RECOVERED IN HOUGHTON
One Individual Facing Charges
(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) - An individual has been charged following a stolen property investigation in Houghton.
On Thursday, April 16, 2026, at approximately 10:35 am, members of the Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a stolen front-end loader near the intersection of Glen Erie Line and Stafford Road in the Municipality of Bayham, Elgin County.
The investigation determined the loader was last seen travelling eastbound on Glen Erie Line before being transported to a location on 2nd Concession Road ENR in Houghton, Norfolk County.
Later that day, members of the Haldimand/Norfolk OPP Community Street Crime Unit, with support from officers from the Norfolk County and Elgin County detachments, as well as the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant at a property on 2nd Concession Road ENR.
As a result, one individual was taken into custody, and approximately $238,000 in stolen property was recovered, including a Caterpillar front-end loader, a Polaris RZR side-by-side utility task vehicle, and a galvanized dump trailer.
Charged with the following alleged offences is 66-year-old David PENNER of Norfolk County:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 - in Canada - two counts, - Altering/destroying/removing a vehicle identification number
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
