(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) - Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision near Simcoe.

On Friday, May 8, 2026, at approximately 3:14 pm, members of the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Paramedic Services, and the Norfolk County Fire Department responded to a collision involving two sport utility vehicles (SUVs), a cargo van, and a transport truck on Highway 24, just outside of Simcoe.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the van, a 64-year-old resident of Norfolk County, sustained critical injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of one of the SUVs was transported to hospital with minor injuries, while the driver of the second SUV and the driver of the transport truck were not injured.

Highway 24, between Windham Road 12 and Thirteenth Street West, and Concession 13 Townsend, between Highway 24 and Cloet Road, are expected to remain closed for several more hours.
