COLLISION IN MAPLETON LEADS TO CARELESS CAUSE BODILY HARM CHARGE

(MAPLETON TOWNSHIP, ON) - A young driver is charged following a two-vehicle collision in Mapleton.
On June 15th, 2025, at approximately 3:15 pm, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with other local emergency services, were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Sideroad 18 and 6th Line in Mapleton Township.
Investigation determined that a vehicle allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and struck another vehicle.
The Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) Team was consulted and assisted the Wellington County OPP with the investigation.
As a result of the investigation, on September 10th, 2025, a 17-year-old from Wallenstein is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Careless Driving Causing Bodily Harm.
Both drivers were transported to hospital following the collision. One driver sustained major non-life-threatening injuries, while the other driver sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries.
The accused, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph at a later date.
