DRIVER FACING CHARGES AFTER ALPR ALERT
Seven Charges Laid
(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) - A driver is charged following a traffic stop in Erin.
On March 4, 2026, at approximately 4:00 pm, a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit was conducting proactive traffic enforcement on Wellington Road 52 in Erin, when the cruiser’s Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) notified the officer of a vehicle travelling with expired licence plates. A traffic stop was initiated.
As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old from London, is charged under the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:
- Drive motor vehicle - no currently validated permit
- Owner operate a motor vehicle without insurance
- Operate unsafe vehicle
- Use plate not authorized for vehicle
- Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner
- Fail to surrender insurance card
- Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Provincial Offences Court in Guelph on June 17, 2026.
The vehicle was towed from the roadway, as it was unfit.
