(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) - The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit lay five provincial offences to driver.

On September 13, 2025, at approximately 7:45 pm, the Wellington County OPP Traffic Management Unit were conducting a proactive traffic enforcement initiative and noticed an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) travelling on the side of the road, with a small child within the lap of the driver. A traffic stop was initiated on King Street within Palmerston.

As a result of the investigation, a 22-year-old of Palmerston is charged under the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:

  • Fail to ensure infant properly secured
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Drive motor vehicle, no plates
  • Operate unsafe vehicle
  • Driver fail to surrender licence

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court - Guelph at a later date.
