IMPAIRED DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER FAIL TO REMAIN COLLISION
Two Charges Laid
(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) - Elora resident facing two criminal charges stemming from a fail to remain collision, found to be impaired.
On May 1, 2026, at approximately 6:45 pm, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended the scene of a fail to remain collision on Wilson Crescent within the Town of Elora.
While on scene, it was determined that after the suspect vehicle struck another vehicle, they then fled the scene prior to police arrival. Shortly thereafter, the suspect vehicle was then located.
As a result of the investigation, Kelsey ATKINSON, a 42-year-old of Elora is charged under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Fail to remain
There were no injuries as a result of the collision.
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on June 9, 2026.
