INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN CHARGES

(WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON) - Several charges have been laid against an individual, following an intimate partner violence investigation in Mount Forest.
On November 16, 2025, at approximately 5:30 pm, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a disturbance at an address in Mount Forest.
As a result of the investigation, a 45-year-old of North Wellington is charged with:
- Arson - Damage to property
- Assault with a weapon - spousal (three counts)
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose (two counts)
- Assault - Spousal
- Utter threats - Damage property
- Mischief - Domestic
There were no reported injuries as a result of this incident.
As the accused was being taken into custody, they became combative with police and were additionally charged with:
- Assault a Peace Officer
- Mischief - Destroys or damages property
The officer sustained minor injuries as a result of this incident.
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victim(s).
