DRIVER FACING CHARGES AFTER ALPR ALERT
Five Charges Laid
(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) - A Palmerston driver is charged following a traffic stop.
On January 13, 2026, at approximately 3:30 pm, a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit was conducting proactive traffic enforcement on Lowe Street in Palmerston, when the cruiser’s Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) notified the officer of a vehicle travelling with unattached licence plates. A traffic stop was initiated.
As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old from Palmerston, is charged under the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act wtih:
- Driving while under suspension
- Use plate not authorized for vehicle
- Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner
- Operate a vehicle without insurance
- Defective brakes
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Provincial Offences Court in Guelph at a later date.
