Roadways Re-opened

(WELLINGTON NORTH TWP, ON) - On April 9, 2026, at approximately 12:00 pm, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report that a pedestrian and their dog was struck by a tractor-trailer while attempting to cross Highway 6 within the Town of Arthur.

It was reported that the tractor-trailer was heading northbound on Highway 6 and attempting to turn right, eastbound onto Frederick Street East, when the pedestrian and their dog was struck. The pedestrian has since been transported by air ambulance to a trauma centre with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The dog was declared deceased.

All roads within the immediate vicinity of Highway 6 and Frederick Street East were closed but have since re-opened.

Updates will be provided as they become available, if necessary.
