IMPAIRED DRIVER CHARGED FOLLOWING COLLISION IN MAPLETON

(MAPLETON TOWNSHIP, ON) - An Arthur driver is charged following a collision in Mapleton.
On January 24, 2026, at approximately 7:30 pm, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver who was involved in a single-vehicle collision into a ditch on Highway 6 in Mapleton Township.
As a result of the investigation, Dakota SCRATCHER, 34-year-old from Arthur, is charged under the Criminal Code and the Liquor Licence and Control Act with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on February 6, 2026.
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
