Licence Suspended, Vehicle Towed
(MAPLETON TOWNSHIP, ON) - A Waterloo driver is charged following a traffic stop in Mapleton.
On March 24, 2026, at approximately 11:45 pm, a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting proactive traffic enforcement on Wellington Road 8 near Drayton when they observed a vehicle driving above the posted speed limit.
As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old from Waterloo, is charged under the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:
- Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt
- Speeding 1-49 km/h over posted limit
- Fail to slow down and proceed with caution for emergency vehicle or tow truck
- Fail to surrender insurance card
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Provincial Offences Court in Guelph on July 15, 2026.
A 30 day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a 14-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
