TRAFFIC STOP RESULTS IN EIGHT CHARGES

(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) - A business and driver are charged following a traffic stop in Minto.
On January 16, 2026, at approximately 2:20 pm, a member of the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team was conducting proactive traffic enforcement within the Town of Minto and initiated a traffic stop of a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) on Wellington Road 6.
As a result of their inspection of the CMV, a Hamilton business, is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Operate commercial motor vehicle - no valid Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR) certificate
- Fail to ensure periodic inspections and maintenance are carried out
- Fail to supply driver with daily inspection schedule
- Fail to ensure daily inspection report is accurately completed
- Fail to ensure performance standards are met
- No name on commercial vehicle
The accused business is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court - Guelph on a later date.
A 53-year-old from Mississauga is also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Drive commercial motor vehicle - No valid CVOR certificate
- Improper mudguards - commercial motor vehicle
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Provincial Offences Court in Guelph at a later date.
The driver also received four additional warnings under the Highway Traffic Act and the Dangerous Goods Transportation Act for:
- Fail to surrender inspection schedule
- Fail to accurately complete daily inspection report
- Improper clearance lights - commercial motor vehicle
- Fail to comply with Federal Regulations safety standard - insecure load
