(WELLINGTON NORTH TWP, ON) - Traffic stop leads to charges, resulting in both the driver and business being charged.
On April 15, 2026, at approximately 12:00 pm, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit was conducting proactive traffic enforcement within Wellington County and initiated a traffic stop on a commercial motor vehicle on Smith Street within Arthur.
As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old from North York is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Fail to stop on right for emergency vehicle
- Unnecessary slow driving
- Falsify, mutilate or deface any record or document
- Fail to accurately complete daily inspection report
- Fail to notify operator that ELD displaying malfunction code
Additionally, a business associated to the traffic stop is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Fail to ensure ELD is in good working order, properly calibrated and maintained
