(WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON) - A Toronto resident has been charged with nine offences following an identity fraud attempt in Mount Forest.

On October 28th, 2025, at approximately 1:15 pm, the Wellington County OPP, received a report from a local bank, suggesting the accused was attempting to use false documents to open a bank account.

As a result of the investigation, Sukhvinder SINGH, a 52-year-old from Toronto, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Fraud over $5,000
  • Personation with intent - intent to obtain property (identity theft)
  • Possession of a forged document with intent (four counts)
  • Obstruct a Peace Officer
  • Uttering forged passport
  • Possession of an identity document

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on December 5, 2025.
