INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN CHARGES
Four Charges Laid
(WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON) - A Hanover resident is facing four charges stemming from an intimate partner violence investigation.
On May 11, 2026, at approximately 8:00 pm, a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of altercation at an address in Mount Forest.
As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old from Hanover, is charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Assault causing bodily harm - choke, suffocate or strangle
- Mischief - destroys or damages property
- Theft under $5,000
- Fail to comply with Probation Order
The accused was held in police custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph.
The victim sustained minor injuries.
The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victim(s).
