SNOWMOBILE OPERATOR ARRESTED FOR IMPAIRED SLEDDING

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) - A young snowmobiler is facing impaired charges after getting stuck in a ditch along Highway 6.
On January 7, 2026, at approximately 10:15 pm, a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting proactive traffic enforcement on Highway 6 in Fergus when they located a snowmobile stuck in a ditch.
As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old from Guelph-Eramosa Township, is charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph at a later date.
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) was initiated as per statute.
