RIDE CHECK YIELDS IMPAIRED DRIVER

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) - On August 18, 2025, at approximately 11:15 pm, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check along Orangeville Road in Fergus.
A vehicle entered the area where police then spoke with the driver. The investigating officer detected signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported for further testing.
John Fair, 27 years-old, of Floradale, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
As a result, a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph, on September 2, 2025.
