YOUTH FACING CHARGES IN FERGUS

Two Charges Laid

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) - Youth facing charges in Fergus.

On March 21, 2026, at approximately 5:00 pm, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a local business on St David Street North within the Town of Fergus for a report of a theft-in-progress.

As a result of the investigation, a 14-year-old of Haldimand County, was taken into custody and charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Theft Under $5000 - Shoplifting
  • Assault

No injuries were reported.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date to speak to the charges.

The youth’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
