PICKUP TRUCK DRIVER HITS PEDESTRIAN AND FLEES SCENE

(CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - A vehicle versus pedestrian collision has closed a section of Wellington Road 18 near the Centre Wellington Sportsplex in Fergus.
On May 30, 2026, at approximately 11:00 pm, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), and Wellington County Paramedic Services responded to a report of a pedestrian involved vehicle collision. Upon arrival, emergency responders located an injured male, who had been hit by an Eastbound pickup truck. According to witnesses, the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene, travelling East on Wellington Road 18. The truck was described as darker in colour.
The injured pedestrian was transported to Hamilton Hospital with serious injuries.
OPP Traffic investigators are still examining the scene, and road closures are in effect.
