INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN CHARGES
Extortion - Harassment
(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) - Intimate partner violence investigation results in charges involving harassment and extortion.
On May 12, 2026, at approximately 1:00 pm, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of a report of a disturbance within a neighbouring OPP jurisdiction, which resulted in the Wellington County OPP opening a criminal investigation.
As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old of the Town of Erin is charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Extortion
- Criminal Harassment
- Harassing Communications
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph at a later date.
The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victim(s).
