OPP INVESTIGATING INCIDENT AT GUELPH LAKE CONSERVATION AREA
No Injuries - No Threats to the Public
(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TWP, ON) - OPP Investigating incident at Guelph Lake Conservation Area.
On May 14, 2026, at approximately 3:00 pm, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a weapons call at the Guelph Lake Conservation Area, involving a camper being observed with an alleged firearm.
As a response, and out of an abundance of caution, nearby cambers and guests were evacuated out of the immediate area and police began their investigation, alongside Guelph Lake Conservation Staff.
After a short time later, it was determined that the camper in question had a pellet gun and was using it to shoot pop cans on their campsite. The camper was also found to be intoxicated, who was then trespassed from the property as a result of an alcohol ban on the premises.
There were no reported injuries, and the camper was cooperative with police.
