Five Charges Laid
(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) - A driver is facing five charges following a traffic stop in Guelph.
On March 7, 2026, at approximately 8:00 pm, a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit was conducting proactive traffic enforcement on Paisley Road in Guelph, when they found a motorist to be travelling at a high rate of speed and conducted a traffic stop.
Police demanded the driver provide a sample of their breath into an Approved Screening Device (ASD), which registered a warn range “alert”. As a result, they received a 7-day driver’s licence suspension.
As a result of the investigation, a 66-year-old from Caledonia, is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Careless driving
- Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt - excessive speed
- Fail to stop for emergency vehicle
- Drive motor vehicle, fail to display two plates
- Speeding 1-49 km/h over posted limit
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Provincial Offences Court in Guelph on June 17, 2026.
An additional 30 day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
