IMPAIRED DRIVER ARRESTED

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) - A traffic-stop results in an impaired driver being arrested and charged with three offences.
On June 14, 2025, at approximately 3:15 am, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were performing a proactive traffic enforcement initiative, which resulted in a traffic stop being conducted on Wellington Road 7 within Elora.
As a result of the investigation, Eric WAGENKNECHT, a 29-year-old of Tavistock is charged under the Criminal Code, and the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Driving while under suspension
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on June 27, 2025.
