(WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON) - Two individuals have been arrested in connection with a drug trafficking investigation.

On May 29, 2026, at approximately 10:30 am, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), alongside the West Region Emergency Response Team, the West Region Canine Unit, and the Regional Support Team, executed a search warrant at an address in Mount Forest in relation to a drug trafficking investigation.

The search resulted in the seizure of suspected methamphetamine, suspected cocaine, suspected fentanyl and indicia related to drug trafficking.

Ashley HOTCHKISS, a 34-year-old from Arthur, is charged under the Controlled drugs and Substances Act with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin)

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on August 18, 2026.

Paul SMYTH, a 49-year-old from Mount Forest, is charged under the Controlled drugs and Substances Act with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on August 21, 2026.
