WELLINGTON OPP OFFICER ASSAULTED DURING INCIDENT
Five Charges Laid
(WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON) - An individual is charged following an incident in Arthur.
On April 8, 2026, at approximately 3:45 pm, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of an incident at an address in Arthur.
As a result, a 37-year-old from Arthur, is charged under the Criminal Code and the Liquor Licence and Control Act with:
- Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court
- Mischief - destroys or damages property
- Being intoxicated in public place
While in police custody, the accused became aggressive and was further charged with:
- Assault a Peace Officer
- Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm
The accused was held in police custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph.
The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
