Requesting Public Assistance
(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) - Requesting public assistance.
On May 30, 2026, at approximately 11:00 pm, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), and local emergency services responded to a report of a pedestrian involved in a vehicle collision.
It was reported that an unknown dark coloured pick-up truck was travelling eastbound on Belsyde Avenue East, approaching Orangeville Road within Fergus, when it made contact with a pedestrian who was within close proximity to the roadway. As a result of the collision, the pedestrian sustained serious life-threatening-injuries and was transported to a trauma centre via ambulance as a result of the nature of serious injuries.
The OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team has launched an investigation alongside the Wellington County OPP and closed the immediate roads as an initial response to gather evidence, and the roads have since been reopened and normal traffic has resumed.
The OPP is asking for the public’s assistance, that if anyone may have witnessed the collision, has dashcam footage, or home/business CCTV footage to please call investigators with any details pertaining to the suspect vehicle or the incident.
Investigators are asking the public to please check their footage between the hours of 10:45 pm to 11:15 pm, on Saturday May 30, 2026.
The public is also asked to be on the look-out for any dark coloured trucks with heavy damage on the front-right side, or front-right mirror area.
